The first part of the drill is just evasion, control of space and monitoring the opponent's activity through the tactile sense (using for that our forearms, elbows, shoulders and hands). The second part of the drill explores various close range striking possibilities that follow the tactile control activity, plus the occasional takedown. At close quarters, elbows, forearms, hammerfists, knees and headbutts form a formidable arsenal, that can be used to knock down or simply stun the opponent enough to follow with a quick and easy takedown.
